This is the week where we take time to, essentially, honor the power of the written words and how something as simple as a book or an idea can make people uncomfortable. Yes my friends, words are powerful

• The most challenged books of last year are a treat to look at. Sherman Alexie is on on there as well as banned books favorites like Toni Morrison.
• If 30 isn’t enough, here’s 100 of the most challenged books by decade from 1990 to 2009. Blubber was banned in 1990? Oh, it was all so simple then.
• On Goodreads there are literally dozens of lists of banned or challenged books. Here’s some that’s just YA titles.
• If knowing  about the most banned authors is your thing, here’s a list by year of the writers whose work has gotten banned or challenged. 
• Some one on Wikipedia decided to list every banned book by country. There are some interesting titles and some gems here.
